F1 Accountant in Business  

Arthur Azzopardi B.Sc., MBA
(Henley), CITP, PMP

He graduated with a B.Sc. from the
University of Malta and an MBA from
Henley Management College (UK).
He is also a qualified project management
professional (PMP) and a chartered IT
professional (CITP).

Arthur has been a lecturer with BPP for the
past 4 years.

Arthur worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers
for 4 years and since then, has held various
high profile, management roles in the local
industry.

   
F2 Management Accounting  

Krista Farrugia B. Accty (Hons.), FCCA, FIA,
CPA

Krista qualified as an accountant from The
University of Malta and is also a fellow
member of ACCA and The MIA.

Prior to joining BPP she worked with
PricewaterhouseCoopers and as an
accountant with a local manufacturing
company.

Krista has been a lecturer with BPP for over 5
years and also Director of Studies, focusing
on student support and marketing.

Interests include reading, swimming and
outdoor activities with her family.

   
F3 Financial Accounting  

Abigail Felice ACCA, MIA,CPA

Abigail holds an ACCA professional
qualification. She is also a member of The
MIA and a CPA.

Abigail has been working at The Malta
Institute of Accountants as an Accounts and
Administration Officer for these last three
years and has now also joined BPP
Professional Education as an F3 tutor.

Her main interests are reading, swimming and going out for a good bottle of wine.

   
F4 Corporate and Business Law  

Dr Manfred Galdes B.A., LL.M, LL.D

Graduated Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Legal
and Humanistic Studies and doctor of laws
(LL.D) He also obtained a Masters degree in
European Commercial Law (LL.M.) from the
University of Leicester.

After serving as Manager in Legal and
International Relations at the MFSA and then
as Manager responsible for Regulatory Affairs and Compliance at Portman International Limited, Dr Galdes currently holds the post of Director of Malta's Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit.

   
F4 Corporate and Business Law  

Dr Doran Magri Demajo B.A., LL.D

Doran was conferred her Doctorate of Laws at the University of Malta in 2001 and is currently an Associate at Zammit & Associates – Advocates, where she is mainly responsible for Company Law, Trust Law and Corporate Finance, Ship and Yacht Registration and Finance transactions, Employment Law, International Commercial Transactions, and residence and work permit issues.

Doran is a duly certified by The Institute of Financial Services Practitioners in Malta as a Trust Law and Administration practitioner.

   
F5 Performance Management  

Julian Borg FCCA

ACCA Qualified. Currently reading for a
Henley MBA degree.

Worked with KPMG in the auditing department and as a Business Advisory Manager in the public sector. Currently working as a Corporate Finance Manager with one of the leading private sector organisation in Malta.

Interests include cycling and long distance
running.

Craig Schembri B. Accty (Hons); AIA; MIT
B. Accty (Hons.)

qualified at the University of Malta. Currently
working at Deloitte and Touche Malta
as a Manager in the Tax Department.

Interests include football and
travelling.

Dr Robert Attard LL.D

Besides lecturing and examining at
the University of Malta (Tax Law)
Robert lectured at the Centre of
Commercial Law, Queen Mary,
University of London (Taxation &
Human Rights).

Robert has been asked to address a number of international tax symposia including an important EU Tax Conference. Robert holds the post of Director Tax Services in a leading Big Four Firm. As a lawyer in private practice Robert has argued cases at all levels. Robert is the author of hundreds of articles and five books.

Elvia George BA (Hons) Accty., FIA, CPA

Graduated from the University of Malta with
first class honours.

Currently head of the Finance Section of one
of the main local commercial banks.

Elvia lectures with BPP and is also a part time lecturer at the University of Malta

Monique Micallef B.Accty (Hons.), MIA, CPA,
MSc( R’dg)

Graduated from the University of Malta, and read for postgraduate studies at the University of Reading, UK.

Worked with PwC before joining the University of Malta where she lectures financial accounting to students at the honours level at the University of Malta, and those reading for the MBA.

Ian Coppini

Ian Coppini - ACCA

Ian is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and currently holds the position of audit manager at Deloitte where he has worked for 9 years. He works within the financial services team where he specializes in the insurance industry. On a number of occasions he has worked on short-term overseas engagements with other Deloitte offices, mainly in Luxembourg. Ian has recently returned to the Malta firm following an 18 month period working with the Deloitte New York firm specialising in audits of listed entities operating within the financial services industry. Ian has also been involved in the facilitation of in-house training for audit seniors, managers and partners.

Paul Manduca

Paul Manduca B.Accty (Hons), AIA

Paul is a manager within the Audit Department of Deloitte Malta specialising in clients in the banking sector. In 2002 he graduated from the University of Malta after successfully reading for B.A. Hons. (Accty) and joined Deloitte thereafter. In his time at Deloitte he has specialised in audits of retail and investment banks, having worked on a number of assignments both locally and overseas. Paul’s experience includes acting as audit manager for a number of major local banks as well as banks in the UK. Paul has also worked on regulatory assignments to banking clients and has assisted various banks in their business plans and license applications.

Patrick Spiteri Swain, BA (Hons) Accty,
MIA, CPA, CFA

Qualified from the University of Malta with a
Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons). Other
qualifications held are ACIB, MSc Financial
Management (London).

Work experience in financial management,
specialising in financial risk management,
fixed-income portfolio management and bank
asset and liability management.

Interests include football, reading and watching films.

   
P1 Professional Accountant  

Alan Craig B.A. (Hons) Accty. , AIA, CPA

Worked in the audit department and business advisory section of Deloitte & Touche and Ernst & Young respectively. He also served as Finance Manager in one of Malta’s leading communication companies.

He is presently a partner with Attard Giglio +
Co, where he heads the Business Advisory
section.

Interests include football, rugby, cooking and eating good food and traveling.

   
P1 Professional Accountant  

Kenneth Mousu B.A. (Hons) Accty, FIA, CPA, LIMIS

Graduated from the University of Malta and is enrolled in the Institute for the Management of Information Systems in the UK.

Kenneth is a director of Amarillo Investment Solutions Limited and a member of the Investment Committee. He previously worked in the audit department of Deloitte and Touche before moving to the Benchmark Group of companies where he served as group CFO. Kenneth is a fellow member of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

His interests are DIY, cooking and football.

Kevin Vassallo MSc Finance (Leicester) Dist. M.I.A. C.P.A.

MIA qualified and also holds a Masters
Degree in Finance from the University of
Leicester.

Works in Risk Management at the
Central Bank of Malta.

Jonathan Dingli B.Accty (Hons), MIA, CPA

Graduated Bachelor of Accountancy
(Honours) with first class honours from the University of Malta.

He worked for a number of years with KPMG in Malta and in Dublin during which he was assigned on a number of high level clients both locally and overseas. He took on the role of Technical Officer at the Malta Institute of Accountants in May 2005 and has been promoted to his current role of Technical Director in January 2009.

Jonathan has been lecturing for BPP Malta since February 2008, during which period he also taught P2 for BPP International in Warsaw, Athens and Amsterdam.

Interests include classic car restoration,
cooking, wine making and outdoor adventure.

   
P3 Business Analysis  

Hadrian Sammut B.Sc. (Hons.) Computing, MBA (e-Business)

Hadrian graduated with a B.Sc. from the University of Greenwich (UK) and an MBA in e-Business from the University of Malta. He is a member of the Malta Institute of Management (MIM), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and a certified PRINCE2 Practitioner.

Hadrian is an Associated Director with KPMG and has more than 20 years experience in management, providing service for a wide range of clients in both the public and the private sector.

He has lectured with various local organisations in business management and Information Systems (IS) Project Management and has also contributed various articles and papers to specialised publications.

Interests include military history, reading, cinema and mostly football - being a keen fan of Leeds United.

   
P6 Advanced Taxation  

Stephen Gingell - B. Accty (Hons.), LL.M. (Tax) (Lond.)

"Steve holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons.) degree from the University of Malta in Accountancy and a Masters in Law with a specialisation in tax from Queen Mary, University of London. He is currently in the process of completing the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation.

Steve is a Tax Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Malta and is involved in providing advice to a combination of international and local clients. During 2008, Steve completed a two year secondment with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, UK in tax.

His interests include reading, swimming and carpentry."

Mirko Rapa B.Accty (Hons.), ACCA, AIA, CPA

Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons.), ACCA
qualified.

Mirko is a tax manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers and provides tax
advise to a varied portfolio of clients.

Interests include: football, motor and water
sports.

Marvin Gaerty ACCA, AIA, MIT, CPA.

ACCA and MIA qualified. He is also a member of the Malta Institute of Taxation.

Employed as a Tax Enforcement Manager
with the Inland Revenue Department.

Interests include Jazz Guitar, good food and
the cinema.

Renzo Farrugia

Renzo Farrugia B.Accty (Hons), MBA (Henley), MIA, CPA

Qualified Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) at the University of Malta and holds an MBA from Henley Management College (University of Reading, UK).

He is an Assistant Director with Budget Office (Ministry of Finance) and also a Technical Advisor with COMPASS wherein he is responsible to provide training and consultancy services to auditors. He also worked with PwC, as an internal and forensic auditor with the Office of the Prime Minister and as a reviewer with the Quality Assurance Unit.

Renzo is an avid football fan of Birkirkara, loves good food and enjoys playing the piano. - Audit Manager

You may now book for F1, F2, F3 Integrated courses in preparation for computer based examinations to be held in April as well as the paper based examinations in June 2010.

December 2009 ACCA/MIA Examination results will be issued on Monday 22 February 2010
ACCA/MIA Joint scheme Students eligible for examinations in June 2010 may apply for Integrated courses in preparation for May 2010 Computer Based Examinations.
Mature students must first complete and obtain a pass mark in F2 and F3 examination papers within a maximum period of 2 years, before completing any other paper of the ACCA syllabus.
ACCA sections; Knowledge, Skills, Essentials and Options must be achieved in their consecutive order.
BPP opening hours are from 08.00 – 18.00hrs from Monday to Thursday and till 17.00hrs on Fridays
